It’s great to be back after a long Christmas break. Much has happened in the world since my last post. Today, however, I’d like to begin with a story that’s unfolding in New York.
There’s one thing we know: Government officials, whether they’re elected politicians in this country or despots in the third world, do not like being reminded of their failures. This is why the greatest crime in any dictatorship is noticing. You aren’t supposed to notice things that are embarrassing to the ruling regime. It’s also why comedy and satire are banned in places like North Korea, just like they’re banned on late-night talk shows in this country. Petty, corrupt and ineffective people can’t stand it when their incompetence is exposed. They’re willing to take extreme measures to prevent that from happening.
