Tennessee Governor Bill Lee (R) announced Sunday an investigation into the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after whistleblowers told The Daily Wire that they were instructed to skip the homes of people with Trump signs or flags while providing hurricane relief in Florida.
Lee said that he would be working with the state’s attorney general, Jonathan Skrmetti, to determine whether any residents of Tennessee were discriminated against by FEMA employees during the agency’s response to Hurricane Helene.
The direction comes after The Daily Wire reported that now-fired FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington told federal employees under her supervision to “avoid homes advertising Trump” as they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida, to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
