Things are not going well at the University of Michigan. Earlier this year the anti-Israel students on campus tried to force the school to divest from Israel by running to take over the student government and then holding funds for all student groups hostage. The university refused to give in and the leaders of the effort were impeached.





Around the same time, the NY Times reported that despite spending $250 million on DEI initiatives the school’s campus climate had gotten worse rather than better. As a result there were rumors that the board of regents were seriously considering making cuts to DEI jobs. That sparked a backlash led by the school’s DEI chief, but despite that the school announced last week that it was abandoning the practice of mandatory diversity statements for applicants.
