Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said during an interview over the weekend that critics of President-elect Donald Trump should give him a chance to deliver on the things that he has promised to deliver in his second term in office.
Romney made the remarks during a Sunday CNN interview with Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” while reflecting the outcome of last month’s elections.
“Donald Trump won,” he said. “He won overwhelmingly. He said what he was going to do, and that’s what he’s doing.”
“I mean, people are saying, ‘oh, I don’t like this appointment or this policy that he’s talking about,’” he continued. “But those are the things he said he was going to do when he ran. So you can’t complain about someone who does what he said he was going to do.”
