The U.S. military said in a statement on Saturday that it launched airstrikes against terrorist targets belonging to Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen.
The statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) comes after the Houthis have launched hundreds of attacks on merchant and naval vessels operating in and around the Red Sea for more than a year.
U.S. forces “conducted precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a command-and-control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis within Houthi-controlled territory in Sana’a, Yemen, on Dec. 21 Yemen time,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
The operation involved the use of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy assets, including F/A-18s.
