U.S. Sanctions Pakistan For Developing Ballistic Missiles That Can Strike U.S

The United States has enacted sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for secretly developing ballistic missiles that it says are intended to act as a deterrent against the U.S.

The sanctions targeted four entities pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, according to a statement from the U.S. State Department.

“Just looking at a map and looking at ranges, you know, we believe that this is fundamentally focused on us,” said Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer when speaking at an event last week about Pakistan’s development of long-range ballistic missiles, according to The Wall Street Journal.
