Pope Francis condemned President-elect Donald Trump’s reported plans to expel illegal immigrants, calling such actions a “disgrace.”
The Pope made his remarks Sunday on the talk show “Che Tempo Che Fa,” where he was asked about Trump possibly signing executive orders after his inauguration Monday that would expedite the deportation of illegal immigrants.
“If it is true, it will be a disgrace, because it makes the poor wretches who have nothing to pay the unpaid bill. It won’t do. This is not the way to solve things,” he stated.
As far back as February 2016, when Trump was in the middle of his first presidential campaign, Pope Francis criticized Trump’s proposed border wall between the United States and Mexico, implying that Trump was not a Christian.
