Senate Confirms Sean Duffy As Trump’s Transportation Secretary

On Tuesday, the GOP-led Senate confirmed the nomination of Sean Duffy to become transportation secretary in President Donald Trump‘s second administration.

Senators voted 77-22 to confirm Duffy, a former Republican congressman from Wisconsin and ex-Fox Business host, who has pledged to focus on cutting red tape and improving travel safety in the Cabinet role. A number of Democrats joined with Republicans in approving the confirmation, but others voted against it amid a protest against Trump’s pause on federal grants and loans after the Senate unanimously advanced Duffy’s nomination the night before.
