‘Legally Blonde’ Star Recalls Being Chosen As Jury Foreman After Role As Law School Student

“Legally Blonde” star Reese Witherspoon recalled one time she was chosen as jury foreman after people really believed she went to law school because of her role in the hit 2001 movie.

Speaking on BBC’s “The Graham Norton Show,” the 48-year-old actress said, like many of us, she was picked for jury duty and didn’t really want to serve. But when she ended up having to do her civic duty, her portrayal of law school student Elle Woods helped her score a high-powered role in the jury.

“Listen, I did not want to do jury duty,” Witherspoon said. “But I remember it was probably seven years after ‘Legally Blonde,’ I got called for jury duty and it was in Beverly Hills. And I thought, ‘Surely they’re not gonna pick me.’ They picked me for a long trial, y’all. It was probably two weeks.”
