The Daughters of the American Revolution National Board of Management on Saturday rejected a proposal from its Texas chapter to keep trans-identifying men out of the group.
In a letter to the Martha Laird Chapter, the DAR National Board of Management, said it “found the proposed amendment” to prohibit all men, including trans-identifying males, from the group “not to be suitable for inclusion in the bylaws and not to be in the best interest of the Society.”
“The board rejected the proposed amendments in their entirety. The proposed amendments will not be forwarded to the 134th Continental Congress,” it added, noting it will continue to allow “state-certified birth certificates” and not base membership on “chromosomal DNA tests to establish an applicant’s sex.”
