Musical About Late Country Legend Loretta Lynn’s Life In The Works

A musical about late-country legend Loretta Lynn’s life is currently in the works with Tony-Award winner Sutton Foster picked to take on the lead role.

The show, currently titled “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” will be the stage adaptation inspired by the hit 1980 movie and her autobiography, by the same name, which deal with the late star’s rise from her humble roots in rural Kentucky to becoming a country music superstar, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It will include songs from Loretta’s career like “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” and “share stories from Loretta’s life beyond the film’s ending,” per a release about the project.
