The new boss of MSNBC — Rebecca Kutler — not only canceled The Reidout and Alex Wagner Tonight, she also ended the weekend shows of Ayman Mohyeldin, Katie Phang, and Jonathan Capehart. Is anything really going to change — other than Joy Reid’s visibility? Is Symone Sanders much “safer” for MSNBC on the weeknights? Or is it just rearranging the host furniture?
We’re already hearing that Mohyeldin and Capehart are moving to weekend mornings. Talk of bringing in Eugene Daniels and Melissa Murray as hosts might please gay and black audiences, but it doesn’t sound like it would be substantially different than what is being ended.
