Yesterday morning, a group of feminist activists from Great Britain showed up in front of New York City Hall in Manhattan for a demonstration intended to promote the protection and identity of women. Dubbed “Let Women Speak,” the group sought to “preserve women’s spaces.” Things seemed to be proceeding peacefully until a group of roughly 100 transgender activists showed up and attempted to break up the demonstration. The trans contingent sought to tear down the metal barricades that had been set up around the protest, clashed with the police, and shouted threats of physical violence at the feminists.
