U.S. Extradites ‘Convicted Terrorist’ Accused Of Plotting Attacks That Killed 6 Americans

A man suspected of planning the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks that killed 166 people, including six Americans, was extradited to India to stand trial, the Justice Department announced. 

The DOJ said Thursday that it had extradited 64-year-old “convicted terrorist” Tahawwur Hussain Ran, a Canadian citizen and native of Pakistan, to go on trial for 10 criminal charges stemming from the 2008 attack. Rana is accused of aiding Laskhar-e-Tayyiba, a Pakistani Islamic terror group, during the coordinated bombing and shooting attacks it carried out from November 26-29, 2008, in Mumbai.
