JD Vance Plays Off Trophy Fumble At Ohio State Ceremony

Vice President JD Vance attempted to recover a fumble after he dropped the trophy he was trying to hold up during a ceremony recognizing the Ohio State University football team.

The Ohio State team was at the White House to commemorate their 2025 National Championship win (34-23) over Notre Dame — the first team to win in the new 12-team playoff format — and as they went to take a few photos, Vance appeared to suggest that he should hold up the trophy.

When the vice president went to lift the trophy off the table, however, the gold upper portion of the trophy and the black base separated — and Vance fumbled, trying to get ahold of one or both pieces. Running back TreVeyon Henderson and linebacker Cody Simon scrambled and were able to catch both pieces before the trophy hit the ground.
