There’s an old saying that “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” and that may well hold true in many instances. However, I can’t say that’s the case for former President Joe Biden, who made his first formal post-presidency appearance in Chicago to — checks notes — blast President Donald Trump regarding Social Security.
It could just be my right-leaning perspective here, but while much has been said of late regarding the Democrats’ flailing and being seemingly leaderless, I’m not exactly sure who was clamoring for Joe to abandon the old beach chair and resurrect the whisper-scream, but someone thought it was a good idea.
It didn’t get off to the most auspicious start, with Biden seeming unclear as to his cue to start speaking:
