In the 1950s, Flannery O’Connor explored questions of good and evil in her short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” Independent journalist Taylor Lorenz might learn from O’Connor’s work.
Lorenz has faced fierce criticism after CNN aired an interview with her in which she appeared to make light of the alleged actions of Luigi Mangione, the suspect accused in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December.
“You’re going to see women especially that feel like, ‘Oh, my God, right, like, here’s this man who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart. He’s a person who seems like this morally good man, which is hard to find,’” Lorenz said in reference to Mangione before breaking out in laughter.
