President Donald Trump held a press conference from the Oval Office Thursday morning to announce the momentous trade deal the U.S. has struck with the U.K., after which he took questions from the press.
One exchange came as quite a surprise: It appears that Trump has decided to pull Ed Martin’s nomination as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. Trump had high praise for Martin but acknowledged that getting him confirmed had become a problem, compliments of some Republican resistance. He didn’t come out and name Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), but it’s clear that’s who he was referring to.
Trump provides an update on his nominee for U.S. Attorney:
“He’s [Ed Martin] a terrific person. He wasn’t getting the support from the people that I thought….I’m very disappointed in that…
…We have somebody else that will be good…
….I just want to say it…
