Police reveal details about shooting of state trooper that undermines claim by ‘forest defenders’ (Update)

Yesterday, police entered a forested area south of Atlanta where the city intends to build a modern police training center. This was a “clearing operation” designed to remove protesters who’ve been occupying the area for about a year. Styling themselves as “forest defenders” the protesters have set up roadblocks, attacked police with rocks and at least one Molotov Cocktail. During the operation yesterday, police said that one of the protesters pulled out a gun and shot a Georgia State Trooper. The officer was wearing a vest but the bullet went under the vest and he had to be taken to the hospital for emergency surgery. Police returned fire and killed the shooter at the scene.Read More
