FEC out, Justice Department in for Santos probe

It feels like we’ve been saying this from the moment that George Santos’ name popped up in the headlines after winning a seat in Congress, but it definitely seems like the wheels of justice are closing in on the notorious liar. We already knew that the Federal Election Commission was investigating his campaign finance records for potential improprieties, to put it mildly. But yesterday, the Department of Justice stepped in and asked the FEC to hold off on its investigation. They also asked for any of Santos’ campaign finance records to be turned over to them.
