We hear this phrase all of the time in American politics, particularly in conservative circles. The infamous “limousine liberals” are the Democrats who preach to you about your carbon footprint and the excesses of the wealthy while they fly first class (or in private jets) and are ushered around in limousines and fancy cars. (They are also the ones who want to take away your guns while they are protected 24/7 by armed guards, but that’s a story for another day.) This is not just some hypothetical slur designed to “own the libs,” however. The Free Beacon has identified one such far-left liberal who literally meets the definition of the term.
