Actress Candace Cameron Bure is touting the joy of married sex as she celebrates 26 years with her husband, former NHL player Valeri Bure.
“Sex obviously is important,” Bure said during an interview with Mayim Bialik for her “Breakdown” podcast this week. The 46-year-old “Full House” alum also said she hates how “sex within marriage gets such a bad rap.” While acknowledging that rough patches happen, she ultimately believes “sex is a gift from God to be within the constraints of marriage and that it is to be celebrated and a huge part of marriage.”
Bure continued, saying sex is a “blessing of being married and committed to someone” and that jokes about long marriages being boring and sexless aren’t always true.
“I’m not trying to talk about my sex life,” she said, per Fox News. “But I do think it is important to share what a healthy sex life within marriage can be just in saying like that that’s important.”
The Hallmark star explained how sex is still a vital part of her relationship with her husband, who she wed in 1996.
“It’s an important part of the relationship that we make time for one another, that we still love each other both physically, you know, spiritually, mentally, all of the things. It all comes hand in hand,” Bure noted.
“I’m a happier person and my husband’s a happier person when we’ve had sex,” she added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Bure talked about laughter being another key component of their success as a married couple. “Laughter is one of my love languages,” she said when asked about intimacy in her marriage.
“I grew up with comedians on the show [‘Full House’]. I’ve been around laughter my whole life. My dad’s a very funny man. Like, I love it,” the mom of three explained. “So, I need to have laughter in my life and that does come with a playfulness with my husband so when he can make me laugh – like, it’s the best.”
In 2020, Bure got in hot water with some of her fan base when a photo started circulating of her husband’s hand on her breast. But the actress defended herself, saying it was perfectly appropriate for married partners to express their physical affection.
“For all of the Christians that are questioning my post with my husband’s hand on my boob — my husband of 24 years — thinking it was inappropriate, it makes me laugh because it’s my husband,” she said at the time, as The Daily Wire previously reported. “We have so much fun together.”
“He can touch me any time he wants, and I hope he does. This is what a healthy, good marriage and relationship is all about,” she continued. “I’m sorry if it offended you — I’m actually not sorry. I’m glad we have fun together after so many years. He can touch me all day long.”
