The poker world is abuzz after leading player Garrett Adelstein accused a lesser-known opponent of cheating to win a $270,000 pot during a streamed World Poker Tour event last week.
Robbi Jade Lew has admitted that she offered to give Adelstein his money back, which he took, after the suspicious moment. But she’s also targeting Adelstein on social media and claiming she won the pot after simply misreading her hand.
“Garrett, you look like you want to kill me,” Lew said during the intense live-streamed interaction, which has been viewed a stunning 7 million times (video below).
One commentator at the event noted that Adelstein looked “disturbed” by how Lew won the big pot.
“It’s the most disturbed look I’ve ever seen Garrett give,” he said.
After literally minutes of stunned silence, Adelstein said, “I don’t understand sort of what’s happening right now.”
“If my jack wasn’t a club, I would have been out,” Lew responded.
“What do you mean, if your jack wasn’t a club?” Adelstein shot back. When his opponent seemed to laugh off the stunning turn of events, he snapped, “This doesn’t seem super funny to me.”
Adelstein took to social media to detail what went down, and how he believes he was “clearly cheated.”
“To be clear, I never asked for a refund,” the poker player said. “I never even considered asking as it would be such an obvious admission of guilt on her end. But once she offered, of course I am going to accept my money back after being clearly cheated.”
“Another note,” he continued, “she didn’t misread her hand. She knew she had J4. She looks back at her hand for several seconds straight before calling.”
Adelstein said that he’s “well aware the scariest/easiest way for someone to cheat a livestream is to have a device hidden that simply vibrates to indicate you have the best hand” — a seeming suggestion of how Lew allegedly cheated him.
“Poker is an extremely complicated and nuanced game,” Adelstein prefaced the post. “I don’t fault anyone who watched the hand and doesn’t conceptually understand how it’s impossible to call on the turn there.”

“I read the man and make a hero call after he shoves on a turned brick card. Get over it,” Lew posted to Twitter. “I’ll say it again like I’ve said it before: ‘I’m not playing nice in the sandbox anymore.’”
“Make it right [Garrett Adelstein],” she added. “Or don’t. #IDGAF (I don’t give a f***) I’ve already moved on. I’ll make it back either way.”

“Garrett blocked me. Guilty as charged. What an honest man. He cornered me & threatened me,” she accused in another tweet. “If he has the audacity to give me the death stare ON camera, picture what it’s like OFF camera. Lew then quote-tweeted one explanation of the bizarre moment, “Nailed it.” Here’s what was described:
She thought she had J3. She feels men are always trying to run her over & she’s dying make big calls. She was embarrassed she actually had J4 & told nonsensical fibs in an attempt to cover up an innocent mistake. If she had turned over J3, Garrett would have said ‘nice hand’.
If you rewatch the video someone asks her if she has pocket 3s. She says no. He then asks her if she has a 3. She says no again but seems to be flustered and still answering the first question.
She also stresses she has a pure bluff catcher. Every one of us would consider J3 exactly to be a “pure bluff catcher”. None of us would consider J4 to be anything remotely close to a “pure bluff catcher”.
