President Joe Biden (D) praised top political rival Ron DeSantis (R) during remarks that he made Wednesday while visiting Florida to survey the damage caused by Hurricane Ian last week.
The praise from Biden came during his visit to Lee County, which took a brutal pounding from the near Category 5 hurricane.
“What the governor’s done is pretty remarkable,” Biden admitted. “I think he’s done a good job.”
“I think he’s done a good job,” Biden adds, recognizing they have “different political philosophies,” but has done a good job handling the crisis

Biden took significant heat last week after he avoided reaching out to DeSantis ahead of the hurricane making landfall despite finding the time to reach out to several local mayors.
Biden eventually reached out after facing backlash, including from DeSantis, for apparently playing partisan politics as tens of thousands of Americans were about to have their lives changed forever.
“You know, I’m happy to brief the president if he’s interested in hearing what we’re doing in Florida, you know, my view on all this is like you got people’s lives at stake, you got their property at stake, and we don’t have time for pettiness,” DeSantis said at the time. “We got to work together to make sure we’re doing the best job for them.”
