Michigan’s 13th Congressional District Democratic Party was holding their holiday gathering on Saturday evening at the Common Pub in Detroit.
But it didn’t turn out to be full of holiday cheer. Instead, it turned into a full-out brawl.
When Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) started to speak, a woman on a megaphone who was not a guest started shouting “Ceasefire now!” and about 20-30 protesters who crashed the party joined in the chant. They were wearing “Free Palestine” shirts. According to Bridge Michigan which covers local news, the protesters were with the Palestinian Youth Movement and Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). The guests tried to get them to leave, but they wouldn’t disperse. Things then went south when the guests tried to push them out of the restaurant.
