As the saying goes, give a man a fish, you can feed him for a day. Teaching a man to fish will feed him for a lifetime. But another benefit of teaching a man to fish is that he won’t be tempted to stroll into a Bass Pro Shop and steal a giant fish for kicks, like what happened in Lee County, Florida.
The fishy caper occurred on Wednesday evening, when a younger-looking gentleman decided he would pilfer a 50-pound tarpon fish from the aquarium at the local Bass Pro Shop in Gulf Coast Town Center. The theft wasn’t exactly an Ocean’s Eleven-style heist as he was caught on camera walking out of the building with a self-satisfied grin on his face.
Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office are on the hunt for a male suspect who’s accused of grabbing a fishing net from a shelf at the hunting and fishing store and removing a 50-pound live tarpon from the store’s fish pond…
