Nikki Haley, After Falling To 3rd In Iowa, Spins Victory: It’s A ‘Two-Person Race’

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley spun a third place finish in the Iowa caucuses on Monday night as a victory, declaring that despite failing to live up to polling and media expectations, she had narrowed the race to a one-on-one race against former President Donald Trump.

The political operation backing Haley spent more money in Iowa, $37 million, than any other candidate, according to CNN. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spent $35 million in the state and Trump spent $18.3 million.

Despite being repeatedly labeled for weeks as the “surging” candidate in the race and the final The Des Moines Register poll showing that she was poised to beat DeSantis in the state by four points, Haley fell short when it came time to caucus, landing a couple of points behind DeSantis.
