Medical Students Condemn ‘Gender Binary,’ Colonialism, Praise Indian Medicine In Bizarre Oath

Incoming medical students at University of Minnesota were led in a bizarre group oath chock full of woke references, including condemnation of “the gender binary,” and colonialism, as well as pledge to “honor all indigenous ways of healing.”

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities Medical School class of 2026 students were led in reciting the oath by Robert Englander, associate dean for undergraduate medical education. The oath was written by over a dozen incoming medical students and the event took place in August and was recently reported by Campus Reform.

“With gratitude, we, the students of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Medical School Class of 2026, stand here today among our friends, families, peers, mentors and communities, who have supported us in reaching this milestone,” Englander began, reading from the student-written pledge. “Our institution is located on Dakota Land. Today, many indigenous people throughout the state including Dakota and Ojibwe, call the Twin Cities home.”

The gathering pledged its commitment to “uprooting the legacy and perpetuation of structural violence deeply embedded within the health care system,” and said it recognized “inequities built by past and present traumas rooted in white supremacy, colonialism, the gender binary, ableism, and all forms of oppression.”

The future doctors vowed to create a “culture of anti-racism,” and claimed in their group oath that Native American medicine is a legitimate complement to modern Western medicine.

“We pledge to honor all Indigenous ways of healing that have been historically marginalized by Western medicine, knowing that health is intimately connected to our environment, we commit to healing our planet and communities,” the group said.

The pledge continued with an acknowledgement that no culture can be superior to any other, with the students reciting a vow “to embrace our role as community members and strive to embody cultural humility.”

Then came the invocation of the latest woke buzzword, “equity.”

“We promise to continue restoring trust in the medical system and fulfilling our responsibilities as educators and advocates,” the oath stated. “We commit to collaborating with social, political, and additional systems to advance health equity.”

The closing at the ceremony was given by the vice dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Ana Núñez, who once said her motto was “logic doesn’t live here.”
