JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon stood up for former president Donald Trump and his supporters while discussing the state of the economy.
During a Jan. 17 appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Dimon suggested that there were many potential problems ahead for the economy and challenged co-anchors Joe Kernen and Andrew Ross Sorkin to take a second look at the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination and his backers.
Dimon condemned Democrats for referring to Trump supporters as “deplorables” and characterizing them as hugging “onto their Bibles, and their beer and their guns.” Dimon asked the hosts, “Could we just stop that stuff and actually grow up and treat people with respect and listen to them a little bit? … I do think this negative talk about MAGA is going to hurt Biden’s reelection campaign.”
