When Ron DeSantis abruptly canceled his media appearances over the weekend, it led to a lot of speculation that he’d be ending his presidential campaign. On Sunday, that’s exactly what happened. Facing the prospect of a distant third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary, DeSantis bowed out and endorsed Donald Trump.
On one hand, the disappointment from DeSantis’ supporters is understandable. He’s a fantastic governor who’s more effective at advancing conservative policies than any other politician alive today. There’s no doubting that.
At the same time, there’s also no question that it’s a good thing the primary effectively ended this weekend, as opposed to an even more protracted war of infighting among conservatives.
