In Wake Of U.S. Troops Killed, Former Middle East Centcom Chief For Trump, Biden Says Go After Iran

The former head of U.S. Military Central Command, retired General Kenneth Frank McKenzie — who served in the position under both Presidents Trump and Biden — stated on Monday that in the wake of the killing of three U.S. troops Iranian-backed forces the United States should “get comfortable with the fact that there can be escalation associated with this.”

McKenzie spoke on CNN with host Wolf Blitzer, who commented, “As you know, the U.S. says Iran-backed militias are behind this deadly attack. To what extent do you believe Iran itself was directly involved?”

“Wolf, it’s hard to know, but we know that Iran trains, equips and funds these militias,” McKenzie replied. “It’s likely they provided some form of intelligence and targeting information.
