On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on the articles of impeachment for Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. The details of the articles were released in January. That vote failed to pass the resolution of impeachment, 214-216, with all Democrats and four Republicans voting “Nay.” There was one House member absent. A call was made for a roll call vote, which was postponed. The vote appeared to have initially ended in a tie (which also would have effectively been a loss for the resolution) until one Republican, who is not yet known, apparently changed to a “no” vote, with the resulting 214 in favor and 216 opposed.
