ABC Panel ERUPTS After Christie Questions Jan 6 Committee Credibility

Sparks flew on Sunday’s edition of ABC’s This Week when former New Jersey governor and ABC political and legal contributor Chris Christie dared to question the partisan congressional January 6 committee. Making the obvious point that the committee would have more credibility if they had actual Republicans serving instead of two faux Republicans Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, former DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile lashed out at Christie.

The January 6 committee was “resigned to having a credibility problem because of the membership of the committee and the way that was done,” Christie opened by saying.

“There are lots of Republicans across this country who just say, there’s nobody there to argue the other side. Kinzinger and Cheney don’t argue the other side to the extent that there is some arguments there,” Christie added before both anchor George Stephanopoulos and Brazile jumped down his throat.

After Christie made the cardinal sin of criticizing the Democrat Party’s sainted January 6 Committee, the ABC panel broke into chaos (click expand to read):

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: There’s no other side on whether the election—

DONNA BRAZILE: What is the other side, Chris?

CHRISTIE: Look, I think that you can question a lot of these witnesses who came up and test their credibility, Donna.

BRAZILE: Bill Barr? You’re going to test the ability of the former Attorney General.

CHRISTIE: You know what?

BRAZILE: You’re going to test the credibility of the people inside the Oval Office advising the President? Are you going to test the credibility?

CHRISTIE: I don’t know Donna. You want to keep talking? Or do you want me to give the answer?

BRAZILE: No seriously, Chris. What is the other side?

CHRISTIE: You can test the credibility of people by doing that, it can give them more credibility. But instead, it’s a TV production.

BRAZILE: Yeah, you’re going to test the credibility of the cops who got their heads smashed in?

[crosstalk]

BRAZILE: Is that who you’re going to test?

Finally getting in a word edge-wise, Christie explained that “there are lots of people inside the White House who now have convenient memories about things that didn’t have memories about them before,” and if there was an opportunity for Republicans to cross-examine witnesses

Explaining to the liberal panelists on the network, Christie explained that “the reason the January 6 committee “isn’t breaking through with voters in 2022 is because Donald Trump is not on the ballot.”

Since Donald Trump isn’t on the ballot, “it’s very hard for Democrats to be able to make this a cutting issue, especially in the light of huge inflation, gas prices, crime in the streets, open borders, drug overdoses, those things are things that are affecting people’s everyday lives and they don’t see it that way,” Christie reasoned.

Reason and logic are not allowed on ABC News. Especially not This Week, which is why they tried their best to shout down Christie.

The fact of the matter is that Christie is right. Pelosi knew what she was doing when she picked the two most rabidly anti-Trump Republican members of Congress to serve on the January 6 committee.

She didn’t want cross-examination of witnesses or anyone to challenge the left’s narrative on January 6.

CHRIS CHRISTIE: George, I think two things, one, I think the January 6 committee despite some of the really good work they’ve done and I agree with Julie on some of the bringing out of facts that they’ve done was resigned to having a credibility problem because of the membership of the committee and the way that was done. And so there are lots of Republicans across this country who just say, there’s nobody there to argue the other side. Kinzinger and Cheney don’t argue the other side to the extent that there is some arguments there.

CHRISTIE: No, that’s not who I’m testing, Donna. But there are lots of people inside the White House who now have convenient memories about things that didn’t have memories about them before. You can ask questions about that. But the second point is this, that the reason this isn’t breaking through with voters in 2022 is because Donald Trump is not on the ballot.

You know, in the end, what the January 6 committee has made this all about is Donald Trump and his role in January 6. Absolutely appropriate to make it about that. But when he’s not on the ballot it’s very hard for Democrats to be able to make this a cutting issue, especially in the light of huge inflation, gas prices, crime in the streets, open borders, drug overdoses, those things are things that are affecting people’s everyday lives and they don’t see it that way. Now, if Donald Trump is on the ballot in 2024, then this becomes a whole different matter.
