Perhaps you were already familiar with WPATH, or the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Formerly known as the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, it touts itself as the premiere “interdisciplinary professional and educational organization devoted to transgender health.” They issue guidelines for medical professionals to follow when treating transgender patients. That certainly sounds impressive, at least if you don’t look too closely under the covers.
