Scottie Scheffler, who is currently the top-ranked golfer in the world, said during an interview this week that he is not defined by golf, but by his Christian faith.
Scheffler made the remarks when asked by reporters at his pre-Masters press conference in Augusta on Tuesday if golf is what defines him as a person.
“Hopefully, it doesn’t define me too much because golf definitely is a selfish sport, you’re out there by yourself,” he said. “And when you’re at the peak of your game, people need stuff from you a lot of the time and you have to be selfish with your time. And it’s, it’s not easy to say no, but you have to learn how to say no to certain people, and because ultimately, we come out to the golf tournament, you’re here to compete, and you’re here to do your best. And you can’t really get caught up in all the stuff that’s going on around you.”
