Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) defended this week some of former President Donald Trump’s claims about the 2020 presidential election.
Cotton made the remarks during a Sunday interview with Jonathan Karl on ABC News’ “This Week” while talking about the possibility that Cotton could be a potential vice presidential pick for Trump.
Cotton said that it would not be helpful to Trump if he was out there advocating for himself to be the VP pick.
“What Donald Trump is focused on is winning this election,” he said. “What I’m focused on is helping him win and making sure Republicans win the Congress. When he’s ready to make his decision about vice president, he will. Afterwards, he’ll make his decision about the cabinet. Until then, anyone out campaigning for the job or pushing for the job is not helpful to what we should all be focused on, which is winning the election.”
