Early Saturday morning, news broke that Israel freed four hostages after conducting a rescue operation in central Gaza. Fierce fighting spilled into the streets of Nuseirat, a city often falsely labeled a “refugee camp” for propaganda purposes, as IDF, ISA, and police forces moved in. The hostages were eventually evacuated by helicopter despite Hamas militants firing shoulder-launched rockets in an attempt to blow it out of the sky.

There was no joy in Washington, though. The Biden administration put out a tepid statement in which it urged Israel to accept a terrible “ceasefire” deal that would prevent future rescues, while Hamas supporters gathered at the White House.
