As the 2024 election nears, the Democratic National Committee is doubling down on its effort to make abortion laws in Republican-led states a top issue for voters.
In addition to investing $8.3 million across every state party in the country for 2024, the DNC is also committing to handing out grants of more than $1 million to battleground states to hone their messaging on abortion, CBS News reported, citing a party memo that was circulated on Monday, the second anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
“As we mark the second anniversary of Dobbs, our work to mobilize voters continues today and lasts through November,” DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin wrote in the memo. “The only way to restore and expand women’s reproductive freedoms is reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris, and electing Democrats up and down the ballot.”
