Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr slammed critics of former President Donald Trump this week after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts that they take as president, but not for unofficial conduct.

Barr made the remarks during an interview after leftist Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a widely criticized dissent in which she claimed that “the President is now a king above the law.”

“There’s absolute immunity when he’s acting directly under the constitution, carrying out a function under the constitution,” Barr explained during the interview. “There’s presumptive immunity when he performs an official act, and the government has the burden of showing that it can prosecute him for that without impairing the executive function. And finally, there’s no immunity for unofficial or private acts….
