Karen Read, the Massachusetts woman accused of killing her police officer boyfriend, will face a second jury on January 2025 after her first trial ended in a mistrial.
The new trial date was set for January 27, 2025, and comes just a couple of weeks after a jury couldn’t decide whether Read killed her boyfriend by drunkenly backing into him with her vehicle or whether she was framed by her boyfriend’s colleagues, People Magazine reported.
During the hearing to determine the new trial date, broadcast by Boston 10, the defense brought up its motion to dismiss the charges against Read, but the judge ruled that a hearing for that motion would take place on August 9.
