Vice President Kamala Harris falsely suggested that former President Donald Trump agreed to debate her in September and that he was now trying to back out of the debate.
“I’m ready to debate Donald Trump,” she told reporters. “I have agreed to the previously agreed upon September 10th debate, he agreed to that previously, now it appears he’s back-peddling.”
“But I’m ready, and I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage and so I’m ready,” she added. “Let’s go.”
The claim is false because Trump never agreed to debate Harris on September 10th; he agreed to debate President Joe Biden, who has since dropped out of the race because of his disastrous June debate performance.
