In a groundbreaking study that came out earlier this year, researchers found that older adults who take a daily multivitamin retain more cognitive ability than those who do not.
The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, showed results from three trials conducted at Mass General Brigham. The trials focused on 5,000 people who were 60 and older and compared results from people taking a daily multivitamin, Centrum Silver, to those who took a placebo. For those who took a daily multivitamin for up to three years, the test results showed brain aging slowed by two years.
Further analysis of cognitive studies showed that those who take a daily multivitamin benefit from higher cognition and episodic memory, “preventing cognitive decline among older adults.”
