As questions grew louder over the course of Joe Biden’s time as president, the one person people wondered about most in the administration was his Vice President, Kamala Harris, and how she had to have seen evidence of Biden’s cognitive health issues.
Harris’ stock answer, the few times the issue came up in her pre-2024 campaign interviews, was to assert that the Joe Biden she served alongside was a strong, effective, and capable leader.
But even in the immediate aftermath of the infamous June 2024 debate, where the concerns over Biden’s mental acuity couldn’t be swept under the rug anymore, Harris was very defensive in a contentious exchange with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, claiming “it was a slow start, but it was a strong finish” and suggesting it was just one night out of “three and a half years of performance and work that has been historic.”
