The biblical-based film “The King of Kings” was released on Friday, and it’s already expected to break records. The Angel Studios production racked up $14.6 million in ticket pre-sales, per Deadline, putting it on track to surpass the massively successful DreamWorks film “The Prince of Egypt” (1998), which currently holds the title of best opening for a biblical film at $14.5 million.
The outlet noted that one million tickets were sold in advance, thanks in large part to the studio’s “Kids go Free” campaign, which allows one free kid’s ticket for every adult ticket purchased.
