At least 15 people are dead after a gunman opened fire on a university campus in the Czech capital of Prague on Thursday.
The shooting is one of the deadliest to take place in the country. The shooter took his own life, according to The New York Times.
The gunman was a student at Prague’s Charles University and started the rampage inside the school’s philosophy department, Prague Police Chief Martin Vondrasek said, according to the Associated Press. Police have not released the name of the shooter or announced a suspected motive. Investigators do not suspect that the gunman was connected to extremist ideology or groups, Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said.
Witnesses of the shooting say they saw a gunman standing on a balcony of a building and shooting down at people on the outside.
