A fire that broke out at Democrat Senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ office in Burlington, Vermont, has sparked an investigation after authorities deemed it an act of arson. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident. State authorities are now searching for an unidentified male suspect.
Authorities say that the suspect used what appears to be an accelerant, spraying the office door, before setting it ablaze and fleeing the scene. Authorities have not determined a motive, and say the suspect remains at large. Police released a grainy photo of a man wearing an orange beanie, dark jacket, and white Nike sneakers, and carrying what appears to be a tote bag.
On Friday morning, the Burlington Fire Department posted a statement to Facebook after responding to reports of a fire at 1 Church Street, identified as Sanders’ office.
