We may well be witnessing the passing of a torch just now in the Democratic Party. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the former bartender from New York, and Bernie Sanders, the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont, have been making some appearances together. We may well presume that the “daffy Bolshevik” torch is being handed off, from a failed carpenter to a failed bartender.
Or, at least, we might have thought that, until Bernie appeared on ABC’s “This Week” and, when asked if he thought AOC should run for the Senate, appeared about to storm out of the room, calling it a “nonsense question.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., got up during a pre-taped ABC “This Week” interview that aired Sunday, and accused Jonathan Karl of asking a “nonsense” question about whether Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., should run for Senate.
