Biden Can Blame Senility, But What’s Kamala’s Excuse?

If President Joe Biden ever wanted to, he could easily blame all of his odd habits on senility. Nobody would bat an eye. His vice president, on the other hand, is more than twenty years his junior and such a claim would never be believable.

So, what is her excuse for her gaffes and word salads?

On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris made a visit to the demilitarized zone in South Korea. While there, she said, “The United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance with the Republic of North Korea. And it is an alliance that is strong and enduring.”

North Korea, of course, is run by a morbidly obese dictator nicknamed “Rocket Man” by former President Donald J. Trump. The U.S. is not an ally of Kim Jong Un. Harris, as the video shows, was speaking off note cards, adding to the confusion.

Harris’ difficulty with the English language is about as well known as Biden’s difficulty exiting stages, but it’s always worth a trip down memory lane to remind ourselves that our nation’s second-in-command is number one in the word salad business.

For example, in December 2021, during an interview with NBC News’ Craig Melvin, she offered what was her most nonsensical answer up to that point. Melvin had asked for her update on the administration’s response to COVID.

“It is time for us to do what we have been doing,” Harris explained. “And that time is every day. Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things and tools that are available to us to slow this thing down. And so right now, we know we still have a number of people that that is in the millions of Americans who have not been vaccinated and could be vaccinated and we are urging them to get vaccinated because it will save their life.”

Then in Europe, Harris gave a bizarre geography lesson as she gave a speech on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“I am here, standing here on the northern flank, on the eastern flank, talking about what we have in terms of the eastern flank and our NATO allies, and what is at stake at this very moment. What is at stake this very moment are some of the guiding principles,” Harris said at the time.

On that note, Harris has also pondered the great mystery of time.  While promoting rural internet access, Harris remarked, “We were all doing a tour of the library here and talking about the significance of the passage of time, right? The significance of the passage of time. So when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time … There is such great significance to the passage of time when you think of a day in the life of our children.”

It should be mentioned that some have put forth the theory that Harris is being sabotaged with difficult tasks.

“As the VP wanders haplessly around the White House — and country — it looks very much like the Biden camp has overdone the sabotage,” columnist Sarah Baxter wrote after reports of complaints from within Harris’ office surfaced, claiming that the administration had purposefully given her politically risky jobs like dealing with illegal immigration.

In other words, some speculate that Harris is being set up to fail. If that’s the case, should Americans expect U.S. relations with South Korea to sour? Likely not, but it can reasonably be assured that White House press secretary won’t explain away Harris’ North Korea flub by saying the country was “the top of [her] mind” as she did with Biden’s séance on Wednesday.

For her part, Harris’s camp may blame Biden for giving her treacherous duties in the first place, but that does not explain her incompetence.
