Many moons ago, I lived in New York City during a fantastic sporting era when the Knicks, Giants, Mets, Yankees, and Rangers were all the talk of the town. I used to enjoy reading sportswriter Bob Costas’ engaging columns in the New York Daily News while riding the subway. Eventually, he became the lead anchor for NBC’s Olympics coverage for many years.
But like entirely too many in sports media, he decided to give the middle finger to half his audience and suddenly think we cared about his political musings. He’s an unabashed Never Trumper, yet as the saying goes, even a broken clock gets it right twice a day, and here Costas channels his inner Captain Obvious to tell us what we already knew in a Saturday appearance on CNN’s “Smerconish”:
