Less than 24 hours after a stopgap bill to avert a government shutdown that was packed with add-ons was unveiled, the measure appears to have been stopped in its tracks in the face of opposition.
House members were notified on Wednesday evening that no votes were expected to happen for the rest of the day following an earlier advisory that suggested they were possible.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) shared on X the continuing resolution (CR) would not be coming to the House floor for a vote and negotiators were “re-working” the legislation.
Congressional leaders revealed the initial CR on Tuesday. It sought to provide funds to the federal government through March 14, 2025, and allocate more than $100 billion in disaster aid.
